How to send a map or basemap to you Gpsmap60CSx internal
memory.
- Your Img file,or
Basemap is not bigger than appr. 9Mb
-
You need a Hex editor like UltraEdit32
-
Get the newest firmware update from the Garmin.com
site (currently v3.7)and extract it
-
Open the file 029201000370.rgn in your Hex editor
-
Find the hex-string "10 20 FF FF 5A A5 FF FF FF FF"

-
Delete (cut) everything afther this string

-
A checksum is needed to check your img file.
This will calculated from the size of your img file.
In this case (Rec.Routable Hwy Basemap Atl v2) is
the size of the img file 6.762.496 bytes
in Hex format is this 67 30 00 bytes.
You can calculated this with your windows
calculator, or use the program FileAlyser.

67 30 00
The last part of the hex value is not needed. (00)
The other part must be reserved.
Its now 30 67
-
Type now 0A
30 67 00 52 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 30 67 00 at the end
from the hex editor
30 67 (redboxed) is your calculated checksum and may
be different
-
Open and select your whole img file in the hex
editor and put it afther the end.(green box)

-
Check it again be sure that 03 (black box) is
correct otherwise it will write into a wrong memory
part in the gps,and kill your gps repairing is
impossible!!!
Do you have a American gps
